It's something writers are told all the time, especially by other writers; it's one of the basic tenets of writing and it's good advice - but it doesn't always work.

Not all writers have fainted, fallen in love, been shot at or been in a high-speed car chase. In fact, there are many experiences we might want our characters to have without living through them ourselves.

Welcome to DevCo Ex. The purpose of this blog is to exist as a living resource for fiction writers, a constantly evolving encyclopedia of experience.
